Speedway News 2010 News As the end of the 2009/2010 speedway seasons comes to a close the Cooroy Auto Wreckers speedway team are celebrating their successes and looking forward to the last few race meetings of the season. The results have been very good for the team so far with Aidan Raymont participating in the 2010 Australian Title at Latrobe Speedway in A month later the The Mark had a great 2008/2009 season winning the G & W Modified Production series and finishing third in the Queensland title held in Cairns. This season has been quiet for Mark, as living away from the area has made it hard to compete in local meetings, but he has made his way back for the Queensland title and Australian Open 50 lapper held at Maryborough Speedway. Greg has been busy building Jessica’s car and the new BA Falcon is now up and running. Racing in Super Street Sedans, she has produced some good results from the new car, hoping to finish well in the upcoming Jessica Raymont achieves as rookie! To begin the 2006/2007 season, Jessica Raymont aged 18 moved from the Junior ranks to the Division 2 Street Sedan ranks. This jump was expected by many of the competitors and eagerly awaited by the young speedway star. The season has been a big turning point in Jess's speedway career as many of the competitors in the class have had a lot of speedway experience and are a lot older than the young teenager. The 2007 Australia Day weekend was an important one for Jess as the Street Sedan State Title was held in Kingaroy. The two-night meeting brought out the nerves of everyone involved. While Greg, Yvonne and Aidan Raymont headed to Rockhampton for the 5th round of the Modified HDS Series, Jess and Mark Raymont, Bec (her passenger) and boyfriend Jamie headed to the first title Street Sedan title of many to come. The weekend was wet, rough and nerve racking but successful none the less. Jess ended up qualifying 3rd for the final finding herself up and down during the heats. Jess and Bec managed to fight off the boy to come a rewarding second behind young driver Aaron Broadbridge. This was a fantastic result for the rookie of Street Sedans Division 2 who had been the first ever Junior QLD champion in 2005 and also came 3rd in the Junior State Title in 2006.
